Overview

Responsible and accountable for the shift level coordination and direction of all shipping activity toward the achievement of maximum efficiency of operations with the assurance of packaging, preparing, and loading quality products for delivery to customers in a safe manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline highly preferred.
  • Two years prior supervisory experience required in manufacturing/warehouse industry.
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodology, highly preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately record data required, and proficient computer skills
  • Must be able to work independently and/or on a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and systematic approach to problem solving are required.
  • Must exhibit strong leadership skills and ability to train, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Must demonstrate ability to understand, interpret, and explain complex sets of data.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required. 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bend with full range of body motion. 
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in a cold, wet environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, lead, and mentor, coach hourly shipping employees.
  • Work closely with the Cooler Manager on cooler settlements and inventory counts, fill in for Cooler Manager as needed.
  • Provide Support for off shift Supervisors when on vacation or PTO or leave.
  • Assist Cooler Manager, and Cooler Supervisors as it relates to training, improving efficiency of shipping operations, data evaluation, effective and efficient utilization of equipment and people, and process optimization.
  • Communicate with other departments about product shortages, trailer changes, and route completion.
  • Monitors, daily, the inventory and codes of all products in the cooler to ensure proper rotation of all items. 
  • Prioritize hourly production employee workload, assisting Cooler Manager in scheduling and assessing performance to maximize efficiency and reduce overtime.
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, identify and implement opportunities to improve processes.
  • Comply with and enforce all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations.
  • Enforce use of all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA, SQF, GMPs, and FDA regulations. 
  • Establish and enforce safety standards and report safety concerns to management. 
  • Develop and maintain a positive, productive relationship with supply chain leadership team.
  • Resolve complex issues and remove barriers to employee success 
  • Partner with all functional departments to ensure meeting business unit and company safety, service, cost, and people goals.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area. Maintain physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement. 
  • Monitors attendance, overtime, to ensure compliance with company policies and all government regulations 
  • Ensure full compliance with all quality assurance standards, as well as company dress code policy, good hygiene, and housekeeping practices 
  • Plan direct and coordinate the activities of the shipping department to meet established objectives
