Overview

Supervises the daily activities of transport drivers, ensures DOT compliance and the efficiency of the department by actively engaging in the routing, standardization, and training of the drivers to aid in the distribution of all company products in a safe manner.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree in related field highly preferred
  • Two years prior supervisory experience required
  • Must possess and have the ability to maintain a Class A commercial driver’s license with at least a rating applicable to the maximum rating required within his/her group and an air brake endorsement with 2 years experience
  • General knowledge of rules and regulations governing truck drivers
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodology highly preferred
  • Must pass a pre-employment DOT physical, background check, and drug screen prior to commencing work

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Position requires frequent lifting, reaching, climbing, pulling, stooping, bending, and kneeling
  • May be required to work in cold, damp environments and be exposed to the outside weather
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
  • Maintain constant mental focus and constantly be aware of surroundings

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, lead, and mentor Transport Drivers.
  • Provide assistance to Transport Manager as it relates to training, improving efficiency of transport operations, data evaluation, effective and efficient utilization of equipment, and inter-company freight.
  • Prioritize Transport Driver workload, assisting Transportation Manager in scheduling and assessing performance.
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, identify and implement opportunities to improve processes.
  • Comply with and enforce all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations.
  • Use and enforce use of all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, productive relationship with supply chain leadership team.
  • Partner with all functional departments to ensure meeting business unit and company safety, service, cost, and people goals
